The Bauer GSX Prodigy youth goal pad combines lightweight, protective foams, flexible materials and a parent-friendly strap adjustment system to provide a comfortable fit with a high level of protection.
External Material
We see a synthetic leather used on the GSX outers, although over the last few years the industry standard has varied a bit from the synthetic leathers that all brands had previously been using the material is plenty more than serviceable.
Internal Construction
The GSX Prodigy goalie pads have Bauer’s Soft Flex core, featuring enough rigidity to protect the goalie, and enough flexibility to allow easy movement in the crease.
Pad Break
The pad will use a double break allowing for soft flex above and below the knee which allows the pad to be nice and flexible, providing good mobility.
Boot & Toe Taper
The GSX prodigy leg pad features a soft flex boot, the soft flex on the boot will offer great mobility and maximum power transfer. The pad will also feature a 90-degree boot for complete coverage and a superior post seal.
Knee Cradle
The GSX Prodigy leg pad comes equipped with a square knee block for good stability and comfort in the butterfly. The pad also comes with an adjustable knee wing allowing for perfect fit every time.
Knee & Thigh Protection
The GSX Prodigy leg pads come with built in knee guards on the pads to provide an extra level of protection, just in case a puck squeaks by the top of the pad. The padding attached to the leg pad can wrap around the leg using velcro.
Strapping
The 1-2-3 Parent Friendly strapping system allows the leg pad to fit the goalie comfortably and safely, keeping the parents in mind, who will be gearing up their young goalie. The strapping is so simple, it’s as easy as 1-2-3.
Sizes & Colors
Bauer is continuing with S, M, and L in youth sizing for the Prodigy GSX. The Bauer pad sizing is equivalent to the following; Small 20″, Medium 22″, and Large 24″. The Bauer GSX Prodigy goalie pads are available in White/Black.
